Our Ro Ro shipping services sail from either the port of Southampton or Sheerness to Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth with a transit time of approximately 18 days quay to quay. But even if you're not based in the UK, First Base Freight have agents all over the world who will be able to ship your vehicle to and from most of the countries throughout the world. Before shipping any vehicle to South Africa you must first apply for and obtain an 'Import Permit' and a 'Letter of Authority'. This can be obtained from www.itac.org.za (click here to download application forms) Permits are usually issued within 5 to 6 working days. It is advisable to obtain this before shipping, in order to eliminate any delays with the customs clearance process in South Africa.

We also offer container services to South Africa in either a 20ft or a 40ft container, Your vehicle will be completely secured with wheel chocks and straps and once your container is sealed it will be craned on to the vessel ready for the next weekly saiing. The container vessels mostly sail from the port of Felixstowe or Tilbury with a transit time of approximately 19 days to Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Johannesburg or East London etc... You can either deliver your vehicle to the port direct or we can collect it from anywhere in the UK and deliver it for you for loading in to the container.
