One of the things to consider before shipping any car or any vehicle to Australia is their Personal Imports Scheme better known as IVA, designed specifically to accommodate people settling in to Australia. This includes citizens returning permanently, to take their personal vehicles back with them. Under this scheme, all applicants must have been a resident in a foreign country for a continuous period of at least 12 months, during which time they have owned and used the imported vehicle. Applicants who are intending to move to Australia must intend to change their residence by becoming a permanent resident with the intention to remain in Australia indefinitely. It’s strongly advisable to make your application within plenty of time before you consider shipping your car, motorhome or truck to Australia.
